Niagara Falls…June Jordan

Here’s a lovely poem I came across by June Jordan called: Niagara Falls, one of my favorite places in the world. See my previous post http://sporterhall.wordpress.com/2014/07/03/did-you-know-7/ I added a couple photos to coincide with this beautiful poem that June Jordan dedicated to Leonard Bernstein. Enjoy!

And in the first place the flowing of the river

went about its business like a hulking

shallows curling ankle deep to spume

and in the second place the flowing river

fell

and falling fell stupendous

down

a breakneck cliff invisible behind

the cataclysmic streaming burst apart

at bottom

into spray that birds

attempted to delay by calmly

playing in the serpentine formations

of the frothing aftermath

and then in my place stood a fool

surprised by power that wins only

peace as when the sliding clouds collide

into a new perfection

quietly

  1. Hey! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of
hard work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to prevent hackers?

    • Hi! Thankfully, I have not had that issue, but I do know of another blogger that had their site hacked and he lost all of his work. Thankfully, several bloggers came to his rescue and re-posted some of his work. He was able to eventually get things restored. Obviously, backing up all of your work is your first line of defense. As far as the hackers, the only thing I can say is to protect your blog account with a very difficult password. WordPress offers more information on this and ways to protect against hackers. Hope this helps!
