Downpour…

The rain came suddenly, in a heavy downpour,

an exhilarating feeling, that awakened my core.

This may have ruined many a person’s day,

but I was thankful for the renewal that came my way.

Each raindrop, gently cleansed my soul,

and restored some of the hope that fate has stole.

For the rain is God’s way of pouring down His love,

as only He can from heaven above.

Leaving everything glistening, alive and new,

life’s hidden clues become inspiration-infused .

The downpour will come and make everything fresh,

while awakening the soul and cleansing the flesh.

The Gift of Kindness…

A frown replaced by a beautiful smile,

a changing mood, a day worthwhile.

A heart that gives freely always gets back,

blessings ten-fold, though odds may be stacked.

A lifetime of consequences and lessons learned.

kindness given, yields kindness returned,

It feels so good to make another person’s day,

while showing them that there’s another way.

The gift of kindness, gives great reward,

drawing nearer the dreams that propel us forward.

It’s now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it’s now or never
My love won’t wait.

When I first saw you
with your smile so tender
My heart was captured,
my soul surrendered
I’d spend a lifetime
waiting for the right time
Now that your near
the time is here at last.

It’s now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it’s now or never
My love won’t wait.

Just like a willow,
we would cry an ocean
If we lost true love
and sweet devotion
Your lips excite me,
let your arms invite me
For who knows when
we’ll meet again this way

It’s now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it’s now or…

A Poem For Myself

I was born in Mississippi;
I walked barefooted thru the mud.
Born black in Mississippi,
Walked barefooted thru the mud.
But, when I reached the age of twelve
I left that place for good.
My daddy chopped cotton
And he drank his liquor straight.
Said my daddy chopped cotton
And he drank his liquor straight.
When I left that Sunday morning
He was leaning on the barnyard gate.
Left my mama standing
With the sun shining in her eyes.
Left her standing in the yard
With the sun shining in her eyes.
And I headed North
As straight as the Wild Goose Flies,
I been to Detroit & Chicago
Been to New York city too.
I been to Detroit & Chicago
Been to New York city too.
Said I done strolled all those funky avenues
I’m still the same old black boy with the same old blues.
