New Friends!

Blessings come in all sizes and forms,

such as new friends that enter in.

Like an unexpected breath of fresh air,

I wonder where they’ve been.

Napowrimo crossed my path,

with some truly awesome folks.

Effervescent and invigorating,

like a cold thirst-quenching coke.

Taking in so much beautiful work,

only makes me want to read more.

I pray that all continue to write,

there’s so much more in store.

The formal benchmark is no longer there,

as Napowrimo comes to an end.

A call for all to stay connected,

my new wonderfully gifted friends.

Keep writing!

Fem-Flirtation

The wink of an eye, the gentle sway of her hips,

the enticing way that words fall from her lips.

A sideways glance, the hint of a smile,

all eyes on her, a sight so worthwhile.

From girlish giggles to womanly laughter,

she’s the main attraction ~ the before and the after.

A jazzy walk with a stylish flair,

the icing on the cake, her beautiful hair.

You’ve caught her attention but only for a moment,

the ball’s in her court ~ she definitely owns it.

Joy in the Midnight Hour

Crimson red, bursts of gold,

God’s beautiful story, breathe colors bold.

Blessed are those who heed his power,

for joy does come in the midnight hour.

When daylight dawns, trouble may return,

His people bear witness to all they have learned.

Their testimonies risk both life and limb,

but the most important thing is to honor Him.

He who gave them proof of his power,

through the joy that came in the midnight hour.

Sun Rays

Sun rays, like liquid gold,

pour generously over winter-beaten skin.

A welcome feeling ~ a long time coming.

Like slow streams of hot honey pouring,

it melts away any thoughts laced with gloom and gray.

Delightful in all its radiance, is the sun.

So large you can almost touch it,

yet, so far away, almost a figment of a very vivid imagination.

But real, for its heat easily radiates,

through skin that has been craving its burn.

A searing reminder of its magnificence,

igniting souls from within ~ as only the sun can do.

Fear’s Ride

The power of fear is so overwhelming,

this I know firsthand.

I’ve allowed it to control a big part of my life,

but finally, I understand.

Fear firmly plants you in your tracks,

no movement in any direction.

Before you know it, you’ve grown accustomed,

to the illusion of its protection.

Fear masters so much false deception,

while entangling one in its throes.

How does one get off this delusional ride?

Where will it stop? Nobody knows.

At last, I’ve gotten off this ride,

and I will not get on again.

The next time fear disguises itself,

and deceitfully invites me in,

Who Knows You Better Than You?

Is it arrogant to think, that one has complete knowledge of self?

Or is it a sad disillusion that has taken over?

A false sense of confidence and belief,

that no one could could know you better than ‘you’.

After all, you are the expert on ‘you’.

For you live both inside and outside of yourself.

A one-sided vantage point, that others can only mimic.

You laugh at the boasts of those,

who think they know you better than anyone.

How could they possibly know you better?

When they don’t even share the same view.

Is it no surprise, when it is realized….

they never really knew you.

Outspoken

Some say whatever comes to mind,

with hints of sarcasm, through teeth that grind.

They have no care for whom they hurt,

with the feelings of others, they carelessly flirt.

The broken pieces left scattered behind,

the shattered framework of tortured minds.

Blown away by words of distasteful expression,

anxiety is high ~ a pending depression.

If outspoken words are not carefully chosen,

isolation is inevitable, for in time, words are frozen.

A Humble Acquaintance

As I peer out of my bedroom window,

the dreariest of days emerges.

While making its less than humble acquaintance,

it casts a broad shadow across my expectant forehead.

No glimmer of sunshine anywhere to be found,

yet I make my acquaintance anyway.

Endless overcast clouds ~ Where could the sun be hiding?

Maybe at rest, as it has a lot of shining to do,

and many expectant foreheads to cast its rays upon.

The looming clouds have made their heavy presence known,

they will indeed, be here for a while.

Forgive and Forget

Forgiving is a difficult feat,

yet is it possible to ever truly forget?

To completely void out a past hurt or betrayal,

or would forgiveness be easier?

It would seem not, for to exonerate one,

who has hurt you to your core,

is a lesson in humility that you did not ask for.

Yet, forgiveness is the key to releasing the hold,

that controls all those pent-up emotions.

But the very act of forgiving is emotional in itself, right?

So, what is one to do when forgiveness comes a calling?

You could always just….forget about it!

Creed of Success

If success should ever fall upon my thirsty lips,

Lord please let me taste it, the smallest sip.

I”ll not forget the humble roots from which I came,

may I not be ruined by fortune and fame.

Please grant me the chance to share and give back,

to those less fortunate ~ the odds are stacked.

Let me not lose sight of my purpose and goal,

may I set an example and break the mold.

For when you’ve been given much, so much is required,

a daunting reality, but necessary to go higher.

So, I’ll keep encouraging those who are struggling and reaching,

through God’s extraordinary blessings and his infinite teaching.
